A godmother assumes an important role in the spiritual life of a child . The parents of a child being baptized chooses a godmother to represent the child who is unable to respond during the baptismal ceremony. In the case of an adult baptism, the godmother assists the person in making this step of faith. Being a godmother is not a legal commitment but a spiritual one. And this is how I view my role in the lives of the couples I marry.
As a little girl I dreamt of my wedding. Maybe you did too. It was somewhere between "Snow White," with singing birds and Barbie's Dream Wedding. And when it did come to be my time to marry, I wished that I had a Fairy Godmother to show me what to do. Maybe one with a magic wand. I was totally overwhelmed and stressed out.
Fast forward to today. I love what I do. I come into the lives of couples who are about to take another step of faith. For isn't marriage a step of faith? And while the officiating of a marriage is a legal undertaking,..the guidance I give is a spiritual commitment.
I love that I make it easier for couples to relax and enjoy their day. I see it as my sacred duty to bring Serenity to this important moment.
